BROCKWAY – Scott Jacobs’ Commandment 11 Ministries will be at Beechtree Union Church in Brockway for a special guest appearance on Sunday, Aug. 26.
The church, pastored by the Rev. Terry Felt, is located at the intersection of Arch Street Extension and Westville Road outside Brockway. The worship service begins at 11 a.m. A free will offering will be collected and a fellowship dinner will follow. All are welcome.
Based in Simpsonville, S.C., Commandment 11 Ministries began in 2005, appearing mostly in churches and youth events. That remains an important part of the ministry but, in 2007, the focus expanded to prisons and recovery centers. More than 70 percent of Jacobs’ outreach today is spent on the road in prisons across the country.
The “11th Commandment” comes from John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Jacobs is a songwriter and music missionary who grew up in Boiling Springs, Pa., son of Dick Jacobs, one of the original members of the Jacobs Brothers Quartet. He was written more than 100 songs and recorded 20 CDs.
Jacobs and his wife, Tara have two children.
