DUBOIS – The next session of the DuBois Area Historical Society’s genealogy workshops will be held Thursday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at the society’s museum on West Long Avenue, DuBois. The program is free and open to all.
Linda Stahlman, a retired librarian from the Redbank Valley School District, will present her quest to gather information about her Amish/Anabaptist roots.
Her records took her back to her seventh great-grandfather, Hans Gnagi, who fled religious persecution in Switzerland in 1742.
Wanting to understand more about the family and the culture of that time, Stahlman journeyed to Switzerland last September.
She will tell of that experience and how she and others can dig into archival records from the 1500-1600’s.
