CLEARFIELD – A special electronics recycling and household hazardous waste collection event will be held for Clearfield County residents in August.
The event will take place Saturday, Aug. 25 and is being hosted by the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority, announced Jodi Brennan, director, at Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting.
Electronic items, which will be accepted, include: televisions and monitors; computer towers, keyboards, mice and speakers; printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners; audio, stereo and video equipment; DVD and VCR players; and telephones and answering machines.
Household hazardous wastes, which will be accepted, include: oil-based paints and stains; paint thinners; household cleaners; degreasers and car care products; pesticides; pool chemicals; mercury-containing devices; fluorescent lamps; and batteries.
The cost to residents will be 60 cents per pound for televisions, monitors, computer towers and peripherals. All other electronic waste will cost 40 cents per pound.
The cost for mercury-containing devices will be $6.35 per pound; household hazardous waste, 78 cents per pound; and universal waste (fluorescent bulbs and batteries), $1.47 per pound. Payment is due upon delivery of the items.
