CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield woman accused of driving under the influence with children in her vehicle and being under the influence while watching the kids at home pleaded guilty Tuesday in Clearfield County Court.
Brooke Rochelle Howe, 23, was sentenced to 30 days to one year in jail and one year consecutive probation for DUI by Judge Paul Cherry.
In the second case, she pleaded guilty to three counts of recklessly endangering another person and was given two years consecutive probation.
The second set of charges stem from an incident on Dec. 2 when police responded to a request for assistance with a vehicle lockout in East End in Clearfield.
When they turned down Duke Street they saw Tim Howe, who was not wearing a shirt.
He was speaking quickly and not making sense. Because he was reportedly under the influence and on probation, he was taken into custody.
The officers then spoke with Brooke Howe who was in the home with the three children. The kids were all on the floor along with broken glass from a light globe, police said.
One of them was sleeping with a butcher knife lying only three feet away.
Two of the children, both 3-years-old, had no pants on.
The third child is only 2-years-old, according to the report.
Brooke Howe asked the officers to take her home because she believed she was at a garage instead of her residence. She talked quickly about chemicals on the wall and also appeared to be under the influence, police said.
She had trouble using a cell phone and could not remember things the officers repeatedly told her.
The case against Timothy Howe, 27, is pending. He is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of children
