BROOKVILLE — When the rain began pouring down during the overnight hours on Monday in to Tuesday, there was reason to be concerned. The rain fell for hours on end, sometimes in buckets, with lightning and thunder. The skies began to clear in the late morning, but it seemed inevitable what was to take place.
Even with no rain forecast till later in the day, the playing conditions at McKinley Field in Brookville were unfit for a playoff game on the diamond.
This ultimately was the reason the Curwensville Golden Tide and Brookville Raiders had their District IX Class AA quarterfinal contest moved a day ahead, to Wednesday afternoon.
More rain from overnight Tuesday into Wednesday still could effect the playing surface, but officials are confident the game will be played. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
