Arma Berg, 91, of Mary Street, Houtzdale, died Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Ginter at the home of his son, David and Sharon Berg.
Born Jan. 8, 1927 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Julia (Tubo) Berg. Arma was a member of the Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
He was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post No. 591 and Stephen Kandrack Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6321, Smithmill. He was also a former member of the Houtzdale Loyal Order of Moose No. 327.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan. He later served as a corporal in the U.S. Army in the Korea War.
He retired from Flango Brothers, where he was employed as a truck driver. Arma enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors, gardening and gambling.
On Nov. 6, 1953 in St Lawrence Catholic Church, Houtzdale, he married Jeanne Faye (Albright) Berg, who preceded him in death Nov. 3, 2001.
Arma is survived by a daughter, Brenda Berg of Houtzdale and three sons, Michael Berg and his wife, Donna of  Midland, Mich.,  Barry Berg of Houtzdale and David Berg and his wife, Sharon, who was Arma’s caregiver, of Ginter.
Also surviving are five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hanna Berg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Arma was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers and two sisters. He was the last of his generation.
Family and friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Marc Solomon as celebrant.
Burial will follow at the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin, with graveside military honors to be accorded by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
The family requests that memorial donations be made in Arma’s name to Christ the King Catholic Church, 123 Brisbin St., Houtzdale, PA 16651.
