WINGATE — Heavy rains caused the suspension of the Clearfield Area High School baseball team’s Mountain League game against Bald Eagle Area Thursday with the Bison leading 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning at Doc Etters Field.
Finishing the game could be a problem due to previous postponements, an early start for the District 6 Playoffs and end-of-year school functions.
“It will be difficult to find an open date,” Bison coach Sid Lansberry said.
The 9-3 Bison are booked for seven games in the next two weeks, including two league make-ups and completion of a suspended game with District 9 Class AAAA rival Punxsutawney.
Next week, they have home games with Central Monday, Penns Valley Tuesday and Bellefonte Wednesday before heading east on Route 322 to play Philipsburg-Osceola.
Against BEA, the Bison trailed 4-0 before closing the gap with three runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Hayden Williams and Alec Graham and a sacrifice fly by Reese Wilson and going ahead in the fifth on a two-run home run by Seth Bumbarger.
Cade Walker gave up four hits, all in the Eagles’ four-run second inning, with six strikeouts, two walks and one hit batsman.
