CURWENSVILLE – The 62-year-old Curwensville man who was reported missing Wednesday has been located and is safe.
According to Curwensville Police Chief Mark Kelly, the man returned home on his own accord during the early-morning hours Thursday.
Kelly declined to release the man’s name out of respect to him and his family. “He is alive and home. That’s the good thing and all that matters,” he said. Kelly planned to visit the man later Thursday to ensure that he’s still doing well.
Kelly said the search covered the Curwensville area and involved both dog and boat teams, in addition to manpower on land.
Kelly thanked both the Curwensville Rescue Hose & Ladder Company and Sandy Township Fire Company; Elkland Search & Rescue; Pine Creek K-9 Search Unit; and Clearfield County Sheriff’s and Emergency Services Departments.
Kelly also thanked representatives of the Curwensville Community Center for opening its doors to serve as a command post for the search and Goodman’s Foodliner for offering food and drinks, if needed.

CURWENSVILLE – A search is under way for a missing 62-year-old Curwensville man.
Police told GANT News partner WJAC-TV that the man left his home and was last seen around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
He was wearing a brown fleece, blue jeans, black shoes and glasses. He was possibly wearing a hat. The man was described as having brown and gray, thinning hair. He is also diabetic and reliant upon insulin.
Police established a command post at the Curwensville Community Center on Wednesday morning.
Police confirmed that a K-9 response team picked up a scent that led to the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. However, the man has not been located and crews ended the search for the night at approximately 8 p.m.
The Curwensville Borough police, Elkland Search & Rescue, Northwest Central Pennsylvania Emergency Response Group and several fire companies assisted with the search.
