Dean M. Butterworth, 85, formerly of Sleepy Hollow, Philipsburg RD, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born March 10, 1933 in Philipsburg, he was a son of Edwin and Mabel Pearl (Irwin) Butterworth.
He was a 1951 graduate of the Philipsburg High School. He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, South Philipsburg.
He retired from the River Hill Coal Company, where he was a heavy equipment repairman. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during the Korea War era.
On June 24, 1951 in Philipsburg, he married Patricia J. Frank, who died May 30, 2008.
He is survived by two sisters, Carol Joan Dimond of Chester Hill and Janet Lou Miller of Lock Haven and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Theora Williamson and five brothers, Irwin L. Butterworth, Maynard Butterworth, Gerald Ray Butterworth, Jon E. “Jack” Butterworth and Eldon E. Butterworth.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dahlgren-Spewock Funeral Home Inc., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Scott Hartsock officiating.
Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
