CLEARFIELD — Ryan Mitskavich of DuBois and KC Miller of Denver, PA took home top honors at the prestigious PA Youth Gold Pin Bowling Tournament at Clearfield Lanes Sunday April 15. .
It was Mitskavich’s third win, something no other male bowler has accomplished.
It was Miller’s first tournament and she also came away with the win. Miller finished the qualifying round in the number two position and began her climb to the top with a win over number seven seed Paige Dobson in the first match 196 to 119.
She then outscored Makayla Nicastro in a close match 184 to 178 to advance to the title match and proceeded to win another close match defeating Kristin Womeldorf of Apollo, PA 144 to 138 to claim her first Girls Championship.
Mitskavich finished in the number three position after the qualifying round and defeated fellow DuBois bowler Anthony Manning 201 to 182 in his first match, then defeated another DuBois bowler Kadin Danch in the semifinal match 199 to 188.
Mitskavich finished the day putting on a clutch performance to take the title away from the number one seed Stephen Elder of Altoona in an exciting match 222 to 203.
In addition to the first place trophies both bowlers also earned a $100 scholarship for their efforts.
