ALLPORT – The Curwensville girls softball team finally got a chance to return to the field on Friday afternoon, visiting West Branch to play the Lady Warriors in a Moshannon Valley League (MVL) game.
The Lady Warriors took down the Lady Tide 13-1 in game that went just four and a half innings due to the mercy rule as Curwensville fell to 0-2 on the young season.
West Branch, which had a total of 15 hits, scored six runs each in the first and third innings with one run sandwiched in between to run away from Curwensville.
The lone run for Curwensville came in the top of the fifth inning, scored by junior second baseman Keisha Maines.
The Lady Warriors had nine players getting base hits with Elishea Reed, Kayleigh MacTavish, Skylar Ceprish, Julia Herring, Ruth Betts and Brianna Bone all getting two each.
MacTavish and Ceprish each had a triple, while Speigle and Reed smacked doubles.
The Lady Tide were scheduled to travel to Brockway on Saturday for a game that has been postponed once again due to the weather.
Curwensville will now turn its attention to Monday when they host Johnsonburg at 4:15 pm.
