PUNXSUTAWNEY – State police are currently investigating a large retail theft at the Wal-Mart store in Punxsutawney.
According to Punxsutawney-based state police, the incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Monday. An unknown Caucasian male entered the store and allegedly removed $4,563.21 worth of electronics.
State police say the stolen electronics included computer hard drives, media streaming devices, wireless routers, GoPro cameras, Blu-Ray Star Wars movies, graphing calculators and other items.
The electronics were placed in a plastic tote, which was also stolen. The male suspect then fled through the lawn and garden emergency exit, the report said.
State police say a second suspect picked up the male in a dark gray Kia Sportage with an out-of-state registration. After fleeing, they went to the Clearfield Wal-Mart and allegedly stole similar items between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m.
According to state police, the same suspects have also been involved with similar thefts at Wal-Mart stores in Clarion on March 9 and Poland, Ohio sometime last year.
