Kenneth M. Vancas, 66, of Osceola Mills died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home.
Born Oct. 29, 1951 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Waslosky) Vancas.
He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg.
He was a school teacher for the Philipsburg-Osceola School District until his retirement in 2006.
He was a 1969 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School. He also graduated from Bloomsburg State College in 1972 where he played college football.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1173 in Philipsburg and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 154 in Osceola Mills. He also managed the Clear-Centre Pool for many years.
He enjoyed watching Penn State sports, Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and even the Pirates in his man cave. He loved Madeline and his grandchildren very much; he also loved golfing, fishing, walking and working outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Matthew T. Vancas.
Along with his companion Lourie Sparks, he is survived by one daughter, Kelly Hazelton and her husband, Justin of Philipsburg; one step-daughter, Madeline Sparks, at home; one son, Kristopher Vancas and his wife, Tina of Pleasant Gap; one sister, Diane Holencik and her husband, Thomas of Ramey; one brother, Edward Vancas and his wife, Mary of Osceola Mills; and four grandchildren, Peyton Vancas, Alexis Franks, Reese Hazelton and Hank Hazelton.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Monday at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Philipsburg with the Rev. John Gibbons celebrant.
Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Brisbin. There will be no public visitation.
