Harold T. Schnarrs, 81, of Allport and formerly of Gearhartville, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2018 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.
Born July 1, 1936, in Gearhartville, he was the son of the late Carl and Margaret Shimmel Schnarrs.
On Feb. 25, 1956 at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, he wed his loving wife, Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Penny Schnarrs. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage; she survives at home.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Dr. Robert Harold Schnarrs of Chesapeake, Va.; Terrence Lee Schnarrs and his wife, Yun of Fairfax, Va.; Jay Alan Schnarrs and his wife, Lorrie of Middletown, Md.; James Brian Schnarrs and his wife, Jennifer of Allport; Patricia Elizabeth Ice and her husband, Billy of Severn, Md.; and William Penny Schnarrs of Aberdeen, Md.
He is survived by 16 grandchildren, Mallory, Ariel and Austin Schnarrs, Michael Schnarrs, Michelle White, Danielle McCreary, Ryan and Eric Schnarrs, Christopher, Bridget, Sondra and Samantha Schnarrs, Billy and Nick Ice and T.J. and Bradley Schnarrs.
He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, Brock, Tanner and Jordan Schnarrs, Mykayla Schnarrs, Hunter and Holly Schnarrs, Lukas and Aubree Schnarrs, AzLynn Seprish, Inee’shea and Terryon Schnarrs, Kenasia Jordan and Jessa Schnarrs.
Other special family members include Lori Osenbaugh of Chesapeake, Va., Canice Schnarrs of Virginia Beach, Va., Diane Boslet of Ashville, Denise Sass of Pinchy and Sandra McQuire of Aberdeen, Md., along with one sister, Ruth Hubler of Allport.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon “Sam” Schnarrs and Robert “Bobby” Schnarrs and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Renea Schnarrs.
Mr. Schnarrs was a woodsman for many years. He then worked in the coal industry before retiring from PennDOT as an equipment operator in 2004.
He was a member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Club, the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Club, Frenchville, and the Cooper Township Sportsmen’s Club, Winburne.
There will be no viewing. However, there will be a public gathering Saturday, May 5 at the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, Allport.
Socializing will begin at 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. James Hollister officiating. There will be additional socializing afterward. Burial will be in the Allport Cemetery, Allport.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the SPCA, 275 21st St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
