State police at Clearfield
- State police responded to a reported hit-and-run crash Saturday on High Street in Bradford Township. At the scene, a trooper located a passenger’s side headlight and a grill for a Nissan. A vehicle matching the description was then located on state Route 970 and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon investigation, it was found a Morrisdale male had driven after allegedly consuming a controlled substance. He was also found in possession of drugs, according to the report. State police indicated the same vehicle was involved in the hit-and-run, and charges are currently pending.
State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about an incident of burglary/cruelty to animals March 25, 2017 in Warsaw Township. During the incident, a 28-year-old Brookville man, Todd M. Barber, allegedly entered the victim’s home and then shot and killed their dog. He’s been charged with burglary, criminal trespass, discharging a firearm in an occupied structure and cruelty to animals. Barber was taken into custody for arraignment; he was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
State police at Philipsburg
- State police received a report about an incident of harassment that occurred Saturday on East Presqueisle Street in Philipsburg Borough. The victim was pushed while involved in an alleged altercation. Also, state police found an underage male and female consuming alcohol at the residence. Citations were filed through the district court.
- State police received a report about an incident of simple assault that occurred Friday on Peppermint Lane in Huston Township. During the incident, a 44-year-old Julian man allegedly punched the victim in her facial area. It caused bruising and swelling under her left eye. State police say the man also pulled some of her hair out. He was taken into custody and put in the Centre County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 bail.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police handled an incident of disorderly conduct Saturday on Third Avenue in Summerville Borough. According to the report, state police responded to several noise complaints at the residence of a 33-year-old Summerville man. He was told several times to stop playing his stereo loudly and he refused to comply. He was cited for the incident through the district court.
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Feb. 23 at the Wal-Mart store in Young Township. During the incident, an elderly woman dropped her purse in front of the pharmacy counter. Robert W. Powell, 63, of Coolspring took the purse and put it in his cart; he proceeded to pick up a prescription. He then walked by the vision center, check out registers and customer service desk without notifying an employee about finding the purse. He took the woman’s purse into the men’s restroom, where he allegedly removed $106. He then discarded the purse, which still contained credit cards, a checkbook, identification and other items. The purse was later recovered and returned to the woman. Powell is facing theft-related charges, which were filed through the district court.
Clearfield Borough
- Police arrested a male for allegedly being intoxicated along East Cherry Street.
- Police responded to a residential alarm along Duke Street. Upon arrival, police found the residence was secured.
- Police received a noise complaint along East Walnut Street. However, police were unable to locate any noise in the area.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment on Daisy Street. Police handled the incident at the scene.
- Police reported that a debit card was turned in after being located along River Road. Police will attempt to return it to the owner.
- Police responded to a possible garbage can fire on North Second Street. Upon arrival, police found that a flower planter was smoldering. Police believe a cigarette caused the smoldering.
- Police assisted a motorist who locked their keys inside their vehicle along Nichols Street.
- Police received a report about a vehicle that was traveling the wrong way on Williams Street. Upon arrival, police found the driver had attempted to pull onto Williams Street, striking the railroad tracks and disabling his driver’s side front tire. He was assisted with changing the tire.
- Lawrence Township police stopped a vehicle along state Route 879 and the passenger had a warrant through the Clearfield Police Department. The passenger was able to satisfy the warrant and provide the necessary funds.
- Police assisted the Clearfield Fire Department with a possible fire along Elwood Avenue.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of a male who was threatening self-harm. Police spoke with the male who agreed to be transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
- Police reported that a purse was located and then returned to the owner after it was found inside a business along East Market Street.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle on West Front Street. Police made contact with the driver who was traveling to another state and who was pulled over to get some rest.
- Police are investigating the alleged theft of a cell phone from a North Second Street resident.
- Police were on patrol and saw a female and male engaged in an argument. They were warned for their actions.
- Police received a report about a male who was intoxicated and causing problems on Leavy Avenue. Police located the male who had an active arrest warrant through the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the jail by deputies.
Lawrence Township
- Police investigated a reported theft that occurred Friday at LA Nails. Prior to their arrival at the scene, the suspects fled in a red sedan. During the investigation, they were located in the Wal-Mart parking lot. They were taken into custody and the driver was suspected of being under the influence. After field sobriety testing, the driver refused to submit to a legal blood draw. The driver was lodged in county jail on an outstanding warrant. Charges are to be filed.
- State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Sunday at Rural King. During the incident, a male allegedly concealed several items and left without paying. Charges will be filed against the male.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about an active alarm at Tractor Supply. Police found the building was secured; they were also cancelled per the key holder’s request.
- Police received a parking complaint in the 500 block of West Long Avenue. A caller told police a service truck was parked too far from the curb and its driver should be issued a ticket. The truck was leaving the area upon police arrival.
- Police received a report about a low-hanging wire near the intersection of West Scribner Avenue and Franklin Street. However, police didn’t locate anything that was hazardous.
- Police received a report about a loose pit bull dog on Burt Street. The caller told police the dog wouldn’t allow her husband to leave their porch. Police located the dog and returned it to its owner.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle accident in the Subway parking lot. According to police, a driver of a Jeep Liberty was attempting to back up from a parking space. However, she backed into a Subaru parked in the row behind her vehicle. No injuries and little damage were reported and police assisted with the exchange of information.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run crash that occurred on North Franklin Street. According to police, a driver pulled into Charlie’s Alternator to turn around. The driver of a pick-up truck backed up into the vehicle. Its driver then sped off onto Park Avenue toward Liberty Boulevard. Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 814-765-1533.
- Police received a report about suspicious activity in the Q Care parking lot. However, the vehicle was gone upon police arrival. Police obtained further information from the caller.
- Police observed a disabled vehicle on Hoover Avenue. Police contacted a tow truck for the driver and cleared the scene upon the vehicle’s removal.
- Police received a report about a disturbance in the 700 block of West Washington Avenue. According to police, a known female hit a parked vehicle intentionally with her vehicle multiple times after being asked to leave an establishment. Police were unable to locate the suspect or her vehicle at the time of the report. Charges are currently pending.
- Police responded to Sheetz, located on North Brady Street, where a vehicle possibly struck a natural gas site. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located in the employee lot and the bumper was against a natural gas line marker.
- Police received a report about a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of Olive Avenue. A female resident decided to leave until things calmed down.
- Police responded to the area of Oklahoma Salem Road for an incident that originated in DuBois City. According to police, a witness saw a male pull into First Commonwealth Bank. He exited his vehicle and allegedly punched the male in the backseat. He got back into his vehicle and left the area. When questioned later, both the driver and passenger denied anything ever occurred. Sandy Township police and Pennsylvania State Police assisted with the incident.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of DuBois Street and Parkway Drive. The driver of a sports utility vehicle was turning right onto Parkway Drive and sideswiped a Jeep. Both vehicles were damaged; no injuries were reported. Police assisted with the exchange of information.
- While on routine patrol in the 100 block of North Second Street, police observed a dog tangled without food, water or shelter. Police made contact with the owner who said they’d fallen asleep after putting their dog outside. The dog was taken back inside and police cleared.
- Police conducted a traffic stop along Liberty Boulevard. The driver consented to a search, and a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found. Charges are pending laboratory results.
- Police responded to a parking complaint on West Long Avenue. A caller’s vehicle was parked in and couldn’t be moved. The employees of a nearby establishment were trying to contact the vehicle’s owner. Police cleared the scene.
