PUNXSUTAWNEY – A 14-year-old juvenile is in custody on charges for making threats toward students at the Punxsutawney Area High School.
According to the state police at Punxsutawney, the incident occurred between March 6 and Monday when the male made Instagram posts.
Instagram is a mobile, desktop and Internet-based application and service that’s owned by Facebook. It allows users to share photos and videos privately or publicly to pre-approved followers.
The posts allegedly included photos of the male brandishing a handgun and a simulated rifle/long gun. State police say the accompanying text inferred that gun violence would be committed against other students.
The juvenile was taken into custody and admitted to making the posts in an attempt to keep other students from bullying him. He was charged and turned over to Jefferson County Juvenile Probation.
