Velma M. Millinder, 90, of DuBois and formerly of Wallaceton, entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Nelson’s Golden Years Personal Care Home, DuBois, where she had resided for the last 9.5 years.
Ms. Millinder was born May 8, 1927 in West Decatur, the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Fleck) Kyler.
She was a homemaker, a wonderful mother and a friend to all. She always felt she was put on this earth to take care of others.
She was an avid bingo and card player and still playing cards up to the week before her death. She loved the Lord and always loved to sing hymns and praises to his name.
She is survived by five children, Ginger Lamadue, Suzanne (Larry) Caram, John (Ellen) Millinder, all of Wallaceton, Betty Dixon of Bigler and Cindy (John) Hryn of Grampian; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a very special furry granddaughter named Sadie.
She was the last of her generation. Waiting for her at the gates of Heaven will be her parents; two brothers, James Kyler and Leonard Kyler Jr.; and six sisters, Betty Jean Simcox, Charlotte Wood, Dora Kyler, Patsy Pearson and two infant sisters. Also waiting will be so many dear friends whose lives she had touched.
She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing.
She displayed this faith at the Wallaceton Church of God, where she was a past member and she continued her walk with the Lord at the church services held at Nelson’s Golden Years.
The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. is in charge of arrangements. At Ms. Millinder’s request, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be at The Reidy Cemetery, Wallaceton.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice Care, P.O. Box 447, DuBois, PA 15801.
The family would like to thank Kathy and all of the staff at Nelson’s Golden Years Personal Care Home for all their love and care they gave their mother over the past 9.5 years that she resided there.
