CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township police investigated an alleged threat of violence that was directed at the Clearfield Area Elementary School on Thursday.
According to police, there was a report about an 11-year-old juvenile threatening to take a gun to school and to shoot several others.
A call to police revealed that during a conversation on the school bus, a student claimed they heard about the threats from the juvenile’s relative.
“But neither this said juvenile actor nor his [relative] was on the bus at the time,” police clarified.
“It’s believed the comment was made by another student in retaliation to differences the two students had earlier in the week.”
When police spoke with school officials, it was learned that one student had been in the guidance office to discuss the report and comment earlier in the day.
“There is no reason for parents to be concerned about their child/children attending school,” police said in the report.
“Parents are asked to be attentive to their child’s or children’s social media behavior, text-messaging, Snap Chat and any others that are used as a means of communication.”
