CLEARFIELD – A 62-year-old Clearfield woman, Jane Gearhart, is wanted for failure to appear for two preliminary hearings Feb. 21, according to District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr.
On Jan. 2, Officer Mitchell Klender of the Clearfield Borough police filed a criminal complaint, charging Gearhart with simple assault, M2, and harassment, S.
In a separate incident, Officer Daniel Podliski filed a criminal complaint, charging Gearhart with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, M, and a traffic violation.
According to the affidavits of probable cause, on Dec. 25, 2017, police were dispatched for a reported assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who stated she’d been permitting Gearhart and another person to stay at her residence.
After reportedly observing both under the influence of a controlled substance, the victim confronted them, which resulted in the altercation. During the altercation, Gearhart allegedly struck the victim with a tree branch while the other person struck her with the side of a shotgun. Both fled the scene after.
About an hour later while on routine patrol, Podliski observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. It also matched the description provided for Gearhart’s vehicle.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Gearhart, she was questioned about the previously-reported assault incident. Police allegedly detected signs of impairment.
Gearhart was transported to the police station to perform field sobriety tests, at which time officers detected additional signs of impairment. She was subsequently taken to the hospital for a blood draw.
Preliminary hearings were held Feb. 21, at which time Gearhart failed to appear and warrants were issued for her arrest.
Gearhart is described as a Caucasian female standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall. She has brown hair and blue eyes.
