Rhelda E. Hummel, 75, of Sandy Ridge died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 at her home.
Born Dec. 7, 1942 in Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late Robert C. and Ruth (Keith) Tormey.
She married Kenneth E. Hummel Sr. on Aug. 28, 1980 in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2002.
She was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Osceola Mills and the Mountain Top Fire Company in Sandy Ridge. She was also very active in the Osceola Mills School All Class Reunions.
She retired from the Penn State University in 2004 as an unemployment specialist. She was a 1960 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Glasgow and her husband, William of Alexandria, Va., and two sons, Timothy L. Sharpless and his wife, Deana and L. Scott Sharpless and his wife, Jennifer, all of Sandy Ridge.
She is survived by two sisters, Ethel Mae Hall of Bellefonte and Ruthann Brien of Kings Park, Australia; one brother, Robert D. Tormey of Osceola Mills; five grandchildren, Ryan Glasgow, Hannah Sharpless, Emily Glasgow, Lara Sharpless and Kristie Sharpless; and four step-children.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC in Osceola Mills, with the Rev. James R. Evilsizor officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
