FRENCHVILLE – The Mosquito Creek Sportsmen’s Association has announced the winners of its 2018 Coyote Hunt.
Michael Galbraith (Venango) harvested the hunt’s heaviest coyote ever at 2:30 p.m. Friday, also the first day. It was a 53-pound male.
Tom Sherman (Tioga) finished in second place with a 48.65-pound male. Dustin Holl (Susquehanna) rounded out the top three, harvesting a 45.55-pound male coyote.
John Sonntag (Erie) harvested the hunt’s largest female coyote at 1 p.m. Friday. It was 43.8 pounds.
The association had 4,836 registered hunters with total prize monies of $48,360. It divided $19,344 among the top three placewinners (50 percent, 30 percent and 20 percent).
An additional $19,344 was divided among all hunters for each harvested coyote. Sonntag was awarded $9,672 for harvesting the heaviest female.
A total of 193 coyotes were weighed in for a cash prize of $101 per dog. A complete list of the 2018 hunt results can be viewed in the PDF viewer below or by clicking here.
