State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred between Jan. 27 and Saturday on Glen Hope Boulevard in Beccaria Township. Without permission, someone allegedly took the victim’s 12-foot carry-on trailer that’s black in color. State police say it was hooked to a vehicle and transported from the property. Its rear wheels are also bent away and the trailer has a high gate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 814-857-3800.
State police at DuBois
- State police reported on a DUI that occurred Friday on East DuBois Avenue in DuBois City. According to state police, a vehicle operated by a 64-year-old man was swerving all over the roadway prior to being stopped. He was administered field sobriety tests and subsequently transported to the hospital for a blood draw. He allegedly had a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person. The investigation is pending blood draw results.
- State police received a report about an alleged aggravated indecent assault that occurred between December of 2010 and January of 2011 in Winslow Township. It remains under investigation at this time.
- State police reported on a DUI/drug violation that occurred Sunday on Interstate 80 westbound in Washington Township. According to state police, a 33-year-old man was stopped for traffic violations. He was allegedly operating his vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. State police also seized drug paraphernalia during the stop. Charges will be filed through the district court.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police reported on a drug incident that occurred Thursday on Interstate 80 eastbound in Pine Creek Township. According to state police, a 36-year-old Georgia man was stopped for a vehicle code violation. He was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance. He was subsequently arrested on drug-related charges.
State police at Ridgway
- State police received a report about a burglary that occurred between Feb. 4 and Sunday at a seasonal residence on Mount Zion Road in Weedville. During the incident, someone allegedly shattered the glass to the main door, reached inside and unlocked it. No other property was damaged or stolen, state police say. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 814-776-6136.
- On Saturday an employee of Get-Go in St. Marys allegedly sold a box of Newport cigarettes to a minor. A citation was filed through the district court.
Clearfield Borough
- Police assisted the Clearfield Fire Department along Elk Ave, where a water heater had caught fire. Firefighters were at scene and able to assist the homeowner.
- Police are investigating an incident of theft. During the incident, someone allegedly removed tool boxes from a vehicle.
- Police received a report about four tires being slashed on a vehicle while it was parked along Turnpike Avenue.
- Police were dispatched to the area of Nichols Street, where a vehicle was being driven all over the roadway. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
- Police responded to a vehicle accident in the area of West Front and Nichols streets. According to police, a large truck was traveling recklessly and caused a vehicle to back into another one. Police were assisted by towing services and the Clearfield Fire Department. One vehicle was towed from the scene, and no injuries were reported as a result.
- Police were dispatched to Krebs Avenue, where a vehicle was stuck in a yard. Upon arrival, police found that the vehicle had left the scene.
- Police responded to a reported altercation on Ruch Street. Police were able to resolve the situation at the scene.
- Police responded to a possible water line break on Williams Street. Police were able to confirm and notified the water authority of the complaint.
- Police received a complaint about trespassing from a North Fourth Street resident. Police are continuing their investigation.
- Police were able to serve a warrant on a male after the Lawrence Township Police Department came into contact with him.
- Police assisted a motorist who had locked their keys inside their vehicle along North Second Street.
- Police received a report about a suspicious person on West First Avenue. Police searched the area and were unable to locate anyone.
- Police handled several parking complaints.
- Police apprehended a male who was wanted by the Pennsylvania State Parole. He reportedly fled from his residence, but police were able to take him into custody along Market Street. He was subsequently incarcerated.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle at the Clearfield Driving Park. Police found that the occupants were from another state and taking their dog for a walk.
- Police received a report about an altercation between a male and female on Spruce Street. As a result, a female will be facing charges of harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- Police were assisted by PennDOT along Bridge Street after a large iron crate became dislodged, causing a traffic hazard.
- Police arrested a male for driving under the influence of drugs after being dispatched to Sheetz, where he was reportedly passed out inside a vehicle.
- Police are investigating a burglary that occurred along Duke Street. During the incident, someone allegedly kicked in the door and removed items from a residence.
- Police responded to a minor vehicle accident on East Market Street. According to police, one vehicle backed into another one, causing minor damage. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, and no injuries were reported as a result.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Bigler Avenue. No injuries were reported as a result, but one vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
- Police were notified about living conditions of a Daisy Street resident. Police will forward the information onto another agency that can assist the resident.
- Police were asked to check the welfare of a child along West Front Street. Police found the child was OK and in the custody of a parent.
Lawrence Township
- Police reported on a drug violation that occurred Sunday on 104th Calvary Road in Lawrence Township. According to the report, police were on routine patrol and saw two vehicles pulled off to the side of the roadway. Upon investigation, police determined a passenger – Edward Schmidt – had a warrant for his arrest; he was taken to county jail. Police say drugs and paraphernalia were located in one vehicle, and charges will be filed through the district court.
- Police responded to a motor vehicle accident Saturday in the area of the Rockton Mountain Highway and Zion Road. A vehicle was traveling east when its driver lost control before entering Zion Road. It subsequently traveled down an embankment. Police say the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for the accident.
- Police responded to a motor vehicle accident Saturday on the Rockton Mountain Highway near Yeager Lane. According to police, a vehicle was traveling west when the driver lost control. The vehicle subsequently struck a guiderail, causing disabling damage. It was towed from the scene, and the driver was cited for the accident.
- Police reported on an incident of DUI that occurred Saturday. According to the report, officers responded to the area of Mount Joy Road near its intersection with Center Street, where a vehicle was being driven without any lights. The vehicle had been driven into a ditch. Police made contact with the driver who was uninjured; she was arrested for suspected DUI. She was housed in county jail to await arraignment.
- Police received a report about a burglary that occurred Friday or Saturday on Robinson Avenue. During the incident, someone entered the victims’ residence through the front door. They allegedly took a compound bow, crossbow, .22-caliber rifle, three paintball guns and a DVD player. The total value of the items was $3,655, police say; the incident remains under investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about a bad check on Friday. It was allegedly passed at Herring Veterinary Service by a 35-year-old woman. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about an incident of disorderly conduct that occurred Feb. 8 at the Clearfield Area Junior-Senior High School. According to police, a physical altercation occurred between two juveniles while in class. Charges are currently pending against a 14-year-old male juvenile.
- Police reported on an incident of DUI that occurred Saturday on Route 879 near the Clark Street Bridge. When police made contact with the driver, it was found he was allegedly under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. Charges are currently pending laboratory results.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle in the area of North Church Street. A gray sedan was sitting in the middle of the street but was gone upon police arrival.
- Police observed a vehicle running in the Sheetz parking lot. Its driver appeared to be laying back and possibly sleeping. Police made contact with the male to make sure he was OK. He told police he was taking a nap before going to pick someone up.
- Police received a report about a silent panic alarm at Timberland Federal Credit Union. Upon arrival, it was found to be accidental.
- Police received a report about a retail theft that occurred on North Main Street. It had occurred earlier in the day and the suspect wasn’t at the scene. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about an alarm at Kurt Johnson Auto Sales. Upon investigation, police found everything was OK.
- Police received a report about a stolen bicycle in the 600 block of Locust Street. More specifically, it was a blue Huffy mountain bicycle and taken from the victim’s porch.
- Police received a report about a domestic/child custody issue in the 200 block of DuBois Street. The caller requested periodic checks at the residence.
- Police were requested to look into a possible problem at a West DuBois Avenue residence. The caller was out of town and believed someone took items from inside. Police say it was determined the owner stopped to collect their items.
- Police received a report about trespassing on South Jared Street. Several juveniles were reportedly climbing in and out of the donation bins at the Salvation Army. Officers located several juveniles who were playing on snow piles on the property and requested for them to leave the area.
- Police were dispatched for a hit-and-run accident in the area of Beaver Drive. The victim provided the registration for the suspect vehicle and the driver was later located at her residence. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about suspicious activity in the 600 block of West Weber Avenue. A dispatcher said someone had banged on the callers door and then fled. Officers received numerous calls for similar incidents in the area of South State Street; there were also five incidents on South Avenue.
- Police received a report about a disabled vehicle at the intersection of West DuBois Avenue and DuBois Street. Officers provided traffic control until towing services removed the vehicle.
- Police received a report about an activated alarm on West DuBois Avenue. Upon arrival, police found everything to be OK.
- Police received a report about a parking complaint on the caller’s property. The vehicle owners were ticketed for parking there without permission.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment. Police advised those involved to cease contact with each other.
- Police received a report about a disturbance on West Park Avenue. Officers made contact with the couple who had been arguing and decided to “hug it out.”
- Police received a report about a theft of service on West DuBois Avenue. According to police, three males entered the bar area of a business and ordered drinks. They also ordered food but allegedly left prior to it being served. They were identified by police and the investigation is ongoing.
- Police received a report about a traffic accident in the area of South Main Street and Forrest Avenue. The driver of a Dodge Avenger was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Forrest Avenue when it was rear-ended by a Ford Fiesta. Minor damage was reported as a result, and the drivers exchanged information.
- Police assisted a motorist who was stuck due to weather conditions on East Long Avenue.
- Police received a report about a male who was lying on the ground at the intersection of North Brady Street and Park Avenue. DuSan emergency personnel located the male and stopped to render aid. When police arrived, it was determined he was highly intoxicated and unable to stand. Police say he was taken to the hospital and will be cited for public drunkenness.
- Police received a report about a suspicious male walking in the caller’s yard and around their residence in the 400 block of South Avenue. He was located walking down Sandy Avenue and identified as John Knox of Anita. He had several warrants and was placed under arrest. Knox was allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently taken to county jail by Sandy Township police on the warrants. Knox will also be charged for the other violations.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment on East Weber Avenue. It remains under investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about an incident of harassment on North Jared Street. Former tenants were allegedly harassing the current tenants. Police are attempting to contact the former tenants.
