Carl Edward Bumbarger Jr., 83, of Curwensville died Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1934, he was the son of Carl Edward Sr. and Ethel (Shubert) Bumbarger.
He first worked for the former McGregor’s Sportswear in Clearfield for 28 years. He then owned and operated, along with his sons, Bumbarger Auto Repair and Sales for 34 years.
He was a 1952 graduate of the Curwensville High School. He served with the U.S. Army between the Korean and Vietnam wars and will be remembered for his love of Oldsmobiles and Chevrolet Corvairs.
On July 13, 1957, he wed the former Norma Gail Kramer of Chester Hill, who survives along with two sons, Lance Edward Bumbarger of Curwensville and Neil Allen Bumbarger and his wife, Stephanie of Olanta.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, David, Eric, Lorne, Taneil, Taylor, Tiara, Trey and Tenleigh as well as a sister, Freda C. Swatsworth and her husband, Bud of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Gayle Ann Jacobs.
At the request of Mr. Bumbarger, there will be no public visitation. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Stephen D. Shields officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
