Edward A. Weitoish Sr., 79, of Hawk Run died peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born Nov. 10, 1938 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carrie Vaux Weitoish.
On Jan. 29, 1962 in Arlington, Va., he wed Margaret “Peggy” Myers Weitoish, who survives in Hawk Run.
Also surviving are his children, Edward A. Weitoish Jr. and his wife, Linda and Jesse Weitoish and his wife, Tonya, all of West Decatur, Brenda Cummings and her husband, David of Morrisdale, Ted Weitoish of Hawk Run and Joanie Martin and her husband, Ryan of Philipsburg, 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Tom Vaux and his wife, Helen of Loretto; Joseph Weitoish Jr. of Philipsburg; Rose Marshall and her husband, Ransford of Frewsburg, NY; Carl Weitoish of Old Forge; David Weitoish and his wife, Ann of Hawk Run; and Della Kanouff of Winburne.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Kanouff.
Mr. Weitoish was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, trapping, fishing and gardening. He also loved the old-time country music.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale, with Father John Gibbons officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday and then again after the service until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
