DUBOIS – Down by one at the half, 30-29, the Curwensville Area High School boys basketball team came back in the second 16 minutes to defeat DuBois Central Catholic (DCC) Tuesday night, 62-55, on the Cardinals’ home floor.
The Curwensville win, now 9-9 on the year, secures a District 9 AA playoff spot for the Tide.
Curwensville outscored DCC in both the third quarter,13-11 and again in the fourth, 20-14 , to complete the season sweep of the Cardinals.
The Golden Tide defeated DCC earlier this season, in Curwensville, 58-49.
Four players scored in double figures for the Tide with Josh Terry having 18 points, followed by Devon Barrett with 17, Christian Bakaysa 15 and Avery Francisco with 10.
Justin Miknis was high point man for DuBois Central Catholic with 19 points, which was also game high honors for the Cardinal junior.
In the junior varsity game it was DCC beating the Tide youngsters by a score of 38-23. High scorer for Curwensville was Adam Kunkle with nine points.
The Wednesday night game at West Branch has been rescheduled for February 16. That game that will go a long way in determining the Moshannon Valley League Championship. JV tips off at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
The Golden Tide beat West Branch, at Curwensville, on December 11, 57-54 in overtime.
