NEW WILMINGTON — Junior Michael Spencer (Clearfield) triggered a record-breaking effort by the 200-yard freestyle team in the meet’s final event that lifted Westminster to a 154-146 Presidents’ Athletic Conference victory over Grove City Thursday.
His 22.03-second split gave the Titans a lead of .54 seconds, and senior Daniel Bogen, junior Clay Murray and senior Mitch Stahara went on to make it a 1:26.72 performance that broke the Westminster pool record of 1:27.33 set by a Bethel Park High School foursome in 1996.
Spencer also contributed important points to the Titans’ fourth PAC win without a defeat by winning the 50 free in 21.86 seconds and placing third in the 100 free in 49.16.
He swam a 23.35 butterfly leg for the Titan ‘B’ 200 medley quartet that finished fourth in 1:39.56.
On Saturday, Spencer led off with a 51.23 split for the 400 free relay foursome that was victorious in 3:16.42 to cap a 188-110 Senior Day non-conference win over Mount Union for an 8-1 record.
In addition, he placed second in the 50 free in 22.22, fourth in the 100 free in 50.50 and sixth in the fly in 57.62.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
DUBOIS — Sophomore center Trey Rauckhorst (Curwensville) grabbed five rebounds as Penn State DuBois boosted its stock for the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference playoffs with a 63-59 win over Penn State New Kensington in the Multi-Purpose Building Gym Saturday.
He also had one rebound in each of two losses earlier in the week, 60-59 at Penn State Beaver and 113-80 to visiting Penn State Fayette for a 7-6 record and sixth place in the PSUAC.
The Lions are 10-12 overall.
Rauckhorst’s season totals show 98 points, 93 rebounds, 15 blocks, six assists and two steals.
