WINGATE — Three free throws by high scorer Alayna Ryan in the final 48 seconds lifted the Clearfield Area High School girls basketball team to a 35-33 Mountain League victory over host Bald Eagle Area Friday night.
After a three-pointer by Lacy Barnhart with just under a minute remaining gave the Lady Eagles a 33-32 lead, Ryan was fouled on a drive and cashed both foul shots to put the Lady Bison back in front.
The Lady Eagles worked the ball around for almost 40 seconds before attempting a shot that Ryan rebounded and was fouled.
She stepped to the line and canned the final point with eight seconds remaining.
Bald Eagle Area (2-17, 0-12 ML) did manage to launch a desperation shot before the buzzer.
Ryan paced Clearfield (7-12, 5-7 ML) with 19 points and also dished out six assists.
Barnhart had nine points to top the Lady Eagles, who had been clipped 45-22 by the Lady Bison in early January.
Clearfield will host Penns Valley Tuesday.
Bald Eagle Area’s junior varsity won the prelim 37-10.
