CLEARFIELD – Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.
Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.
CAST is looking for approximately 30 young actors ages 7-17 years. CAST will also be looking for adult volunteers. All adults will need to obtain clearances, which can be done through CAST, if they are not already available.
Open auditions will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 4 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Students auditioning for lead roles, such as Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe should come prepared with a song to sing.
Others will have their voices tested individually with a simple song, and will do group singing auditions. Everyone will learn a short dance as part of the audition, and read from the script that will be provided upon arrival.
Show dates are April 19-21 and 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22, 29 at 2 p.m. All actors are expected to perform at all the shows, and be available for the final days of rehearsal on April 15-18 in the evenings.
