PENFIELD – Winterfest 2018 will be held Jan. 27-28 at the Parker Dam State Park in Penfield. It’s hosted by the Clearfield YMCA.
Family fun will start with the Freeze Your Gizzard 5K run at 10 a.m. Saturday. It will be followed by the Salami Sling time at 11 a.m.
The four-person Blizzard Volleyball Tournament will get under way at 12 p.m. A dog sled exhibition will take place from 11 a.m. -3 p.m.
You can also learn how to cross-country ski at 11:30 a.m. and about ice fishing at 12:30 p.m.
Attendees are invited to bring their leashed dog with its best outfit to show off at the Doggone Fashion Show at 2 p.m.
On Sunday events begin at 12 p.m. with an ice harvesting demonstration. You can learn about ice fishing at 12:30 p.m. and the Kid’s Snow Box Derby will get under way at 1 p.m.
A discussion on attracting winter birds to your feeders will be offered fireside at 2:30 p.m. But you should be sure to bring your bikini or speedo and run in the “almost” naked mile at 3 p.m. (hats and mittens are also permitted).
Winterfest 2018 will come to a close with the annual Polar Bear Swim at 4 p.m. There is still time to register if you dare to take the plunge by calling the YMCA at 814-765-5521.
During both days, a concession stand and restrooms will be open, and all activities planned will take place weather permitting.
