Ronald David Gleyze, 85, of Williamsport died Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. Born July 3, 1932 in Houtzdale, he was the son of Henry and Leah Gleyze.
He graduated from the Houtzdale/Woodward High School in 1951. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army from 1952–1954. He worked for Harrell Automatic Sprinkler Co. for more than 32 years.
He was a member of the Williamsport Country Club and the Eagle’s Nest Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed all sports, loved coaching and was an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Gleyze; his sister, Leah Milliron; and his sister, Dorothy Flango.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Michael Gleyze (Violeta) of the Philippines, Robert Gleyze (Nancy) of Pittsburgh, JoEllen Knecht (Dennis) of Hickory, NC and Jacquelyn Williams (Scott) of Pittsburgh.
He was proud of his nine grandchildren, Sara, Katie, Mike, Dan, Steve, David, Anna, Isabel and Natalie.
Also surviving are a brother, Lewis Gleyze (Selma) of Etters, Pa.; sister-in-law, Linda Sallurday of State College; brother-in-law, Gary Stone (Pat) of Gettysburg; and brother-in-law, Ken Stone (Jean) of Akron, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the Kaufman Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Northway Community Church, Williamsport, with Pastor J.J. Shimko officiating.
