Violet L. Erickson, 96, of Clearfield died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 16, 1921 in Lawrence Township, a daughter of the late Kay Bloom and Rose (Dunlap) Bloom.
She was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School in the class of 1938.
Mrs. Erickson worked hard all her life, and in 1985, she was able to retire from Kurtz Bros., after more than 33 years of dedicated service. She also worked at Clearfield Dairy.
A woman of faith, she was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. Additionally, she enjoyed being a member of the NON Club.
Both she and her husband enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Mrs. Erickson is survived by two sisters, Edna Shimel of Clearfield and Lois Winebold of State College and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Harold “Swede” Erickson Jr. on May 16, 2001; her sister, Helen Tate in October of 2017; and by an infant brother, Harry Bloom.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc., with Mr. Richard B. Barkley officiating.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
