Raymond L. “Bing” Showers, 88, of Osceola Mills died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at Windy Hill Village PSL, Philipsburg.
Born March 30, 1929 in Osceola Mills, he was the son of the late Samuel and Willa (Smith) Showers.
He married Carlene E. (Jarrett) Showers on July 6, 1951 in Osceola Mills. She survives at home.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5020, the American Legion, the Slovak Club and the Osceola Mills Honor Guard. He was a retired bricklayer and a former Decatur Township Supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Otto Showers; two sisters, Evelyn Bender and Marion Firkey; and six brothers, Robert, Ralph, Francis, Lambert, Carl and Charles Showers.
Along with his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Gloria A Forsburg and her husband, George of Philipsburg; two sons, Roberto Showers of Trieste, Italy and Carl Ben Showers and his wife, Lois of Levittown; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC in Osceola Mills.
Full military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
