SNOW SHOE – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has advised motorists that restroom and vending machine facilities are temporarily closed at the mile-marker 144 rest areas on Interstate 80 near Snow Shoe in Centre County.
Vehicles are still permitted to enter the parking lot areas during the closure.
The closures were announced in cooperation with the Mountaintop Regional Water Authority, which has asked customers to conserve due to a supply shortage. The facilities will remain closed until further notice.
The next rest area available for motorists traveling westbound will be in Venango County near mile-marker 35. The next rest area available for motorists traveling eastbound is in Clinton County near mile-marker 194.
Information on the rest area closures is posted on PennDOT’s permanent message boards.
The closure information will also be broadcast on the Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 on the AM dial.
PennDOT thanks I-80 travelers for their patience during these inconvenient closures.
