Lena M. Brown, 97, formerly of Litz Bridge, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at Marion Manor. She was born March 23, 1920 in Clearfield, the daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Kline) Kephart.
On Jan. 6, 1939, she married Kenneth E. Brown in Cumberland, Md.
Retired, she was a former sales associate at Penn Furniture. She was a member of the former Mount Hope Church.
She formerly was a member of the Old Town Grandmothers Club, Rebecca’s, Hobby Garden Club of Clearfield, Red Hats, Merry Widows, Singing Waiters and various granges and auxiliary groups in the area.
She is survived by her seven children, Mildred Hunt of New Millport, Dale Brown and his wife, Helen and Kenneth Brown and his wife, Yvonne, all of Clearfield, Nancy Shaffer and her husband, Chuck and Thomas Scott Brown, all of Curwensville, Janice Brown and her significant other, John Reed and Linda Peoples of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Swisher of Bigler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth E. Brown, who died April 13, 1992; five sisters, Rosella Lumadue, Dwella Eckley, Alpha Kephart, Madaline Dixon and Melva Lumadue; two brothers, Edgar and Burton Kephart; and a grandson, Vaughn McLaughlin.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Burial will be in Stoneville Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
