Sara P. Bloom, 99, of Centre Hall and formerly of State College and Osceola Mills, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the Wynwood House in Centre Hall.
Born April 29, 1918 in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Twila (Hile) Knarr.
She married George Russell Bloom on Sept. 28, 1941 in Maryland. He preceded her in death Jan. 20, 1986.
She was a member of the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church. She attributed her longevity to her daily indulgence of chocolate and ice cream.
She enjoyed a number of hobbies in her spare time, including bird watching, writing in her diary, word search puzzles, reading and her daily phone conversations with her family and friends.
She was formerly employed with the Penn State Creamery and the former O.W. Houts, both of State College, in addition to being a homemaker. She graduated from the Bellefonte Area High School.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kim Denise Bloom, two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Simoneau and her husband, Joe of Townsend, Mass., and Louann Matia of State College; one sister, Lois Puckett of Dover, Del.; three grandchildren, Marjorie Simoneau, Ashley Tekely and Liza Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Tessa and Emery Tekely and Reid Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church with Pastor Beth Stutler officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church, 303 Curtin St., Osceola Mills, PA 16666, in lieu of flowers.
