State police at Philipsburg
- State police received a report about an incident of simple assault that occurred Dec. 10 on Railroad Avenue in Huston Township. During the incident, two juveniles were allegedly engaged in an incident involving a knife. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about an incident that occurred Tuesday at the Wal-Mart in Punxsutawney. According to state police, the victim was entering her vehicle in the parking lot. The suspect got her attention and he allegedly exposed himself while sitting in his vehicle. He then fled the parking lot and is described as being a Caucasian male who is about 30 years old. He has dark brown hair and a full beard; he’s driving a Black Dodge Ram 1500 with a Crew Cab. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at Punxsutawney at 814-938-0510.
Lawrence Township
- Police reported on a vehicle fire that occurred Wednesday on Coal Hill Road in Clearfield. According to police, the driver was traveling when she heard a “popping sound.” She noticed the smell of smoke and observed flames coming from the hood. Police say she was able to exit the vehicle safely and contact emergency services. Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported to police, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Police are also uncertain of the cause of the fire at this time.
- Police responded to a non-reportable crash Tuesday at the Sapp Bros. Truck Stop. Police say that a tractor-trailer backed into another tractor-trailer.
- Police received a report about an incident of theft/forgery that occurred Jan. 5 at a local bank in Clearfield. During the incident, the suspects allegedly removed approximately $1,300 from a deceased relative’s bank account. It had previously been deposited by the Social Security Administration. The suspects are known to police and the investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police received two reports about attempted fraud Wednesday in the Country Club and Lynnwood Hills area. According to police, the victims received an automated phone call, and the message claimed it was from the IRS about an open case against them. The message provided a phone number for the victims to call. Police would like to remind residents that this is a scam and not to provide any personal information.
