On Jan. 8, 2018, Darlene Susan Smolko, 54, of Osceola Mills died at her residence.
She was born Jan. 3, 1964 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late John T. and Edna (Comitz) Kovach, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. She had been employed as a cosmetology instructor with the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center, Clearfield.
She leaves behind her husband, Mike Smolko Sr., who she married Sept. 3, 1983 in Ramey.
She is also survived by one son, Mike Smolko Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Taylor Walker; a brother, John Kovach Jr.; and her furry children, Molly, Lexi, Loki, Gibbs and Ziva.
She was a very driven person and always looking to read and learn new things. She loved and was loved by her family very much.
Her favorite place to visit was the Outer Banks. She loved collecting shells on her trips to the beach and loved the time spent with family and friends.
Her compassion for animals was also very strong. She was the kind of person to take in stray cats and dogs and make them part of the family.
Not only did she love her family at home, but, her CCCTC family, as well. Her students loved and respected her very much.
They enjoyed her class because she made it fun and interesting. She impacted so many lives over the years and helped to mold and shape her students to achieve their dreams.
Mom, you will be missed by so many and we all love you so much.  We hope you are resting easy with Pap and Bubba.
A memorial luncheon and celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Osceola Mills United Methodist Church.
