Mildred J. “Mid” Bennett, 87, formerly of Port Matilda, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2017 at Windy Hill Village P.S.L., Philipsburg.
Born April 12, 1930 in Munson, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret (McCullough) Carter.
She was a 1948 graduate of the Cooper Township High School and was employed as a cook and a waitress.
She was a member of the Forest Baptist Church, where she served as the church clerk and a Sunday school teacher.
She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family.
On Aug. 18, 1979 in Philipsburg, she married Jack Harry Bennett, who died Dec. 2, 2016.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Rodger and her husband, Michael of Chester Hill, Joanie English and her husband, Barry of Allport and Rebecca Hubler and her husband, Alvin and Abby Bennett and her significant other, Lee Gunter, both of Munson.
She is survived by 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Porter, Brian English, Alisa Liptak, Laurel Lynch, Jodi Titus, Danielle McDowell, Hoss Hubler, Corrinna Gunter, Samantha Gunter, Alonna Gunter and Jordan Gunter; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her first husband, Melvin Mason of Philipsburg, and her caretaker, Bobbie Jo Dixon-Hughes.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Rodger; five brothers, George Jr., John “Jack,” Thomas, Alfred “Jake” and an infant brother; and six sisters, Rachel Carter, Agnes Moore, Esther Pelka, Emma Mae Carter, Edna Wolf and Isabella Quick.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lanse Evangelical Free Church, 255 Cotohisc Rd., Lanse, with Pastor Samuel D. Reese officiating. Burial will be at the Forest Baptist Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, Philipsburg, and from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
