Arnold T. ‘Herb’ Petrone, 93, of Curwensville died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at the Ridgeview Eldercare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
He was born Aug. 4, 1924 in Reynoldsville, a son of the late Luigi and Thomasine (Malogoni) Petrone.
Mr. Petrone retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot, where he worked in security.
He liked to hunt, watch football and to be around people while always having a joke to tell.
Most of all, Mr. Petrone loved spending time with his family. He was a member of the St. Timothy Catholic Church, Curwensville.
He was also a member of the Curwensville American Legion Post No. 505 and a life member of the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 0842.
Mr. Petrone served with the U.S. Navy, and he was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne E. (Straw) Petrone; a son, Ronny ‘Pete’ Petrone and his wife, Debora of Curwensville; three grandchildren, Jill Test and her husband, Lynn and Joe Sopic and his wife, Crystal, all of Curwensville, and Jan Duke of Grampian; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, James Petrone and his wife, Rhetta of Tampa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Blanche Pozniak, Bredamine Petrone, Violetta Petrone and Margaret Tucker and four brothers, Philip, Dominic, Albert and Gabriel Petrone.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, with Father Stephen L. Collins officiating.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Timothy Catholic Church, 306 Walnut St., Curwensville, the Rescue Hose & Ladder Ambulance Service, 408 Filbert St., Curwensville, or to the maintenance of the World War II Memorial in Curwensville by making checks payable to Curwensville-Pike Township Historical Society, P.O.
