James A. Jones, 78, of Clearfield died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at his home.
He was born Oct. 1, 1939, a son of the late Joseph R. and Mary Ellen (Conaway) Jones.
Mr. Jones worked for the Clearfield Municipal Authority as a foreman for 33 years before retiring in 1999.
Previously, he was employed by Louie Demi and Sons for nine years as a plumber.
He was Baptist by faith and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved to tend to his garden.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly McGee and Tracy Snyder, both of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Nikki, Danny, Ashley, Brittany, Joseph and Megan; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth V. Catino of Clearfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Wisor) Jones, on Aug. 3, 1999 and to whom he was wed Feb. 3, 1961 in Clearfield.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Strong; a grandson, Matthew Burgess; a sister, Shirley Ann Nicholson; and three brothers, Edward, Joseph Jr. and Robert K. Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. Hiram Westover officiating.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
