Vaughn R. Owens, 97, of DuBois died Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 31, 1919 in Reynoldsville, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mamie (Anderson) Owens.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II.
On July 4, 1941, he married Virginia (Bechtel) Owens. She survives.
He retired from Rockwell International Manufacturing. Prior to that, he worked for Tri County News from many years.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, the J.E. DuBois Hose Company No. 3, Dad’s Horseshoe Club and the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post No. 17.
He is survived by three sons, Denny Owens and his wife, Judy of DuBois, Deb Owens and his wife, Barbara of Land O’Lakes, Fla., and Steve Owens of Lewes, Del.; four grandchildren, Doug, Greg and Justin Owens and Darla Johnston; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Owens.
There will be no public visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22 at the Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor John Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
