Marietta “Mert” Berg Flood of Houtzdale died peacefully in her home Dec. 3, 2017.
She is survived by her children, Rick Simmons and his wife, Kari of Brisbin and Jennifer Belella and her husband, Tom of Houtzdale.
She is survived by her four grandchildren, Austin Simmons and Trinity Baughman, both of Houtzdale, Kaleb Tucker and his fiancée, Courtney Mohney of Butler and Israel Tucker and boyfriend, Logan Glace of Brisbin.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard Berg and his wife, Barbara of Vineland, NJ and Randy Berg of Houtzdale; sister, Darlene Spencer and her husband, William of Mahaffey; and sister-in-law, Jane Berg of Houtzdale. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was born Jan. 17, 1947 in Sterling, Pa., to the late John and Alice (Bookhammer) Berg.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence and John Berg and sisters, Barbara Berg, Donna Estock, Elizabeth Colton and Margaret Pennington.
In addition to cherishing her family, she enjoyed fishing, watching golf and socializing with her friends.
She was a hard-working individual and was loved and respected by anyone who had the joy of calling her family and friend.
She died peacefully in her home after a short illness. She will be remembered by all as a giving and loving person whose quick wit always put a smile on your face.
A small private service will be held for immediate family at Reed’s Funeral Home at a later date.
