State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about deceptive business practices that occurred Aug. 8, 1980 at the Lakelawn Memorial Park in Winslow Township. State police say the victim signed a contract to purchase a burial vault for $350. However, state police declined prosecution of this case due to it being beyond the five-year statute of limitations. In the report, state police noted that as of Sept. 13, Lakelawn Memorial Park will not honor any previous contracts for vaults, opening and closing costs and memorials.
- State police are conducting an investigation of a 64-year-old Reynoldsville man – who was not identified – that was launched by the Megan’s Law Unit. State police say the investigation is to determine if the man provided state police with correct and accurate information.
Lawrence Township
- Police received reports twice about disorderly males at the Super 8.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of retail theft that occurred at Wal-Mart.
Sandy Township
- On Friday police received a report about people trespassing in a vacant house on Quarry Avenue. Upon arrival, the 41-year-old woman and man were found at the scene, and officers handled the situation without incident.
- On Friday police responded to a reported disturbance at a Garden Grove residence. According to police, a 53-year-old woman stopped to check on her 62-year-old friend who was sick, and the woman’s 55-year-old boyfriend was intoxicated and started to argue with the two women. Officers handled the situation without incident. However, police were called back to the residence three more times over the weekend, and each incident was handled at the scene.
- On Saturday police received a report about a male and female who were fighting in the Perkins parking lot. Officers checked the parking lot and could not locate the couple.
- On Saturday an 89-year-old township woman reported that an unknown man who appeared to be intoxicated came to her front door. He reportedly offered to sell her some merchandise and then left quickly.
- On Saturday a 25-year-old Dubois man was attempting to walk across Shaffer Road while texting. He reportedly did not see a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old DuBois woman, and he was hit by the vehicle. Minor injuries and damage were reported to police as a result.
- Police responded to a report of a false alarm at Save A Lot on Saturday.
- Police received a report about a false alarm at Taco Bell on Sunday.
- On Sunday an Ohio woman reported her purse went missing possibly from her vehicle while it was parked at The Commons.
- On Sunday a 32-year-old Circle Road woman alleged that her 25-year-old husband was high on methamphetamine and acting violent. She and her children left the residence and waited for police at a neighbor’s home. Upon arrival, police found that the man had left the residence and he could not be located.
- On Sunday a 29-year-old Reynoldsville woman lost control of her vehicle due to icy conditions. According to police, it caused her vehicle to travel off the roadway and come to rest in a ditch. She was able to get the vehicle out of the ditch and drive to the Blinker Sheetz to call police. No injuries were reported to police, but the rear passenger’s window was broken and there was light damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle.
Morris-Cooper Regional
- Police responded to a report of a psychological emergency. As a result, police say a Cooper Township resident was transported to the Penn Highlands emergency room for an evaluation.
- A Morrisdale resident reported their 27-year-old daughter was missing and may be in the DuBois area. DuBois City police were requested to check an address where she was believed to be staying at. Police then issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for her. Police say that she returned home Monday morning on her own.
- Police responded for a reported tree down on Grassflat Avenue. Police say when the tree fell, it took out electrical wires, and the department notified Penelec. The Grassflat and Winburne fire companies removed the tree from the roadway.
- A Winburne resident alleged that an intruder broke into their residence. When they returned home, police say the resident found damage to the front door. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 814-765-1533.
