Dolores Viola Bowery, 80, of Dimeling died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born Feb. 18, 1937 in Viola, Pa., she was the daughter of George B. and Dorothy (Dunlap) Smeal.
She had worked for the former General Cigar and Custom Castings, both in Philipsburg.
She had also done upholstery work for numerous people, and she attended the Community Baptist Church in Bloomington.
She loved her family and loved working in her flower gardens.
She is survived by six children, Robert Merle Bowery Jr. of Dimeling; Romona Marie Oakman and her husband, Fredric of Meadville; Cindy Dee Lemmo of Bloomington; Billie Mae Bowery of Houtzdale; Sheila Renee Ball and her husband, Charles of Salem, NH; and Robin Lynn Bowery and his wife, Pamela of Clearfield. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are nine brothers and sisters, George B. Smeal Jr. of Bainbridge; Joyce Hess and Ronald Smeal, both of Olanta; Martin Smeal and his wife, Patricia of Ohio; Lawton Smeal and his wife, Linda of Middletown; John Smeal and his wife, Pam of Elizabethtown; Evelyn Grubb and her husband, Dennis of Linglestown; Douglas Smeal of Texas; and Louise Rogers and her husband, Leroy of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Smeal; and two sisters, Sylvia Glace and Patricia Smeal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowery will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Todd T. Hogue officiating. Burial will be in the Stoneville Cemetery, Dimeling.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
