PHILIPSBURG – The Windy Hill Village Academy, located in Westminster Place at Windy Hill Village in Philipsburg, has announced its November schedule of free classes for village residents as well as the local public.
The classes are taught by local volunteers and aim to provide educational activities for those citizens, especially age 50 years and over. Community residents in the greater Moshannon Valley and Clearfield and Centre counties are welcome to attend.
The four core areas of emphasis, offered by the academy, are spiritual, intellectual, physical and social. Classes are 60 to 90 minutes in length. The classes have no tests, no grades and no pressure to perform. They are designed for the education and enjoyment of those attending.
November classes are:
- Monday, Nov. 6 A Virtual Video Tour of America’s National Parks…. Come and enjoy breathtaking views of America’s fantastic National Parks. This high definition DVD will be shown on a large screen television. The natural beauty of our nation is defined by our federally maintained parks.
- Monday, Nov. 20 All About Weather … taught By Floyd Hauth. For those of you weather watchers, this is the class for you. Learn about pressure systems, predicting the weather, the formation of storms and many more weather topics. Hauth is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and professional meteorologist.
- Monday, Nov. 27 All About Weather Part 2 … taught by Floyd Hauth. Continue to learn the fundamentals of weather study while enjoying the knowledge that you will gain.
