BREAKING: Two Officers Injured After Oil City Man Allegedly Flees from Traffic Stop

CLEARFIELD – Two police officers were injured after an Oil City man allegedly fled the scene of a traffic stop during the early-morning hours Wednesday in Clearfield Borough.

Terry Lee Boal, 37, has been charged by Officer Shawn Fye with aggravated assault, F2; fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, F3; recklessly endangering another person, M2; accident involving death/injury, M2; DUI, M; and seven summaries.

According to a news release issued by the Clearfield Borough police, at approximately 1 a.m., officers initiated a vehicle stop on North Third Street near East Locust Street when the driver committed a traffic violation.

The driver, identified as Boal, showed signs of impairment to officers who were conducting the traffic stop. Officers requested for Boal to step from the vehicle in order to continue their investigation.

However, Boal started his vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene. Officers then attempted to disengage the vehicle, at which time Boal allegedly pulled away. Police say an officer was able to disengage from the vehicle but after several feet.

Officers retreated to their patrol unit and a pursuit ensued. Boal’s vehicle struck a curb near the intersection of Daisy Street and Route 322, causing heavy damage to both front tires.

Police continued to pursue Boal’s vehicle east on Route 322.  As they approached Kurtz Road, the vehicle lost both tires, causing it to become disabled, according to the report.

Police subsequently took Boal into custody. He had an active warrant through the Venango County Sheriff’s Office and had absconded from Pennsylvania State Parole.

Boal was lodged in Clearfield County Jail and has been arraigned on the charges with his bail being set at $30,000.

Police say two officers sought medical treatment for injuries at Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
