State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about an incident of burglary that occurred between Oct. 7 and Oct. 9 on Laughbaum Drive in Young Township, Jefferson County. During the incident, someone allegedly stole numerous tools, antiques, electronics and animal items from the victim’s property. State police believe the crime would have taken hours and involved trucks and possibly trailers; it remains under investigation at this time. - State police received a report about an incident of retail theft that occurred Oct. 4 at Wal-Mart in Young Township, Jefferson County. During the incident, a known suspect allegedly left the store without paying for items. State police are continuing their investigation at this time.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a person in possession of a firearm, although they were not permitted to. Police say evidence was collected and charges will be filed against a male.
- Police received a report about an alleged incident of terroristic threats in the area of Paradise School Road.
- Police conducted a warrant service for a person, whom was involved in a Clearfield Borough incident.
- Police received a report about a domestic disturbance at the Lawrence Park Village.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle/parking complaint on Leonard Street.
- Police responded to a report about a disabled bus in the area of Route 879 and Route 322 ramp.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about a protection from abuse order violation that occurred on East Weber Avenue. The caller told police that a male was served a PFA approximately one hour earlier by the Sheriff’s Office. He was also advised he was not to return to the address and to refrain from contacting those people listed in the PFA. However, he allegedly returned and made contact with them. He was taken into custody and put in county jail.
- Police received a report about a stolen vehicle on Liberty Boulevard. A male told police his vehicle was taken from the rear loading dock, where he’d parked at for his shift. Police say his vehicle was a 2009 Pontiac G5 that was white in color, and his keys were left inside his vehicle. Police located the vehicle on East Second Avenue and College Place in front of student apartments. The keys were inside the vehicle, which had been left unlocked. Police notified the vehicle’s owner, so that he could respond and recover his vehicle. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police received a report from a caller who stated there were people in her basement in the 400 block of East Park Avenue. She told police she could hear voices. Upon arrival, police checked the residence, finding the basement door was locked and no signs of entry. Police cleared the scene and the female felt safe to re-enter her residence.
- Police observed a disabled vehicle on Liberty Boulevard in the area of the DuBois Area Middle School. Police made contact with the driver of a white Chevrolet sports utility vehicle. He told police his vehicle had shut off, and he wasn’t able to get it into neutral. Towing services removed the vehicle from the roadway.
- Police received a report about a suspicious person in the area of Kohlhepps True Value. A male told a witness he was running from someone and heading to the DuBois Manor. He was described to police as a Caucasian male with a short beard and wearing jeans and a sweater. He was reportedly acting very “strange.” Police searched the area but didn’t locate the male.
- Police received a report about a theft from a representative of the Garden Club. She told police that over the past year-and-a-half, someone has been stealing flowers from the flower beds around Charlie’s Alternator on North Franklin Street. She believed the offender has a vast knowledge of flowers because they are stealing the most expensive and rare ones. Additionally, she told police that a spade fork and shovel had gone missing from the storage shed in recent months. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police received a report about a burning violation in the 500 block of South Church Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with the resident and found he was burning brush and leaves. He was advised of the burning ordinance and the fire was put out.
Sandy Township
- Police received a report about a false alarm at Burger King on Friday.
- Police received a report about a false alarm at the Falls Creek Eagles on Friday.
- On Friday a woman reported to police that while in the parking lot at Bon Ton, she hit another vehicle. She went into the store to locate the owner, and when she returned the vehicle was gone. Police located the vehicle’s owner and assisted with the exchange of information. No injuries and minor damage were reported as a result.
- On Friday a 45-year-old New Kensington woman reported that someone attempted to break into a shed she owns in Treasure Lake.
- On Friday a 54-year-old Jonesville, SC woman reported that while she was walking across the Holiday Inn Express parking lot, a 37-year-old woman was walking her two dogs. One dog was not on a leash and attacked her, biting her leg, she told police. The incident was forwarded to the dog law officer.
- Police were called to a Treasure Lake residence for a reported domestic dispute on Saturday. The situation was handled without incident.
- On Sunday police received a report about a vehicle being driven in the area of Oklahoma Salem Road, and that the driver appeared to be firing a weapon from it. Upon investigation, it was found to be a vehicle backfiring.
- On Sunday a motorist reported seeing several pit bulls fighting while traveling down Dixon Avenue. Upon police arrival, the dogs were located inside and not causing an issue. The resident reported that he let the dogs out, and they began fighting with each other. He also stated that his dog bit his sister’s dog.
- On Sunday a 20-year-old Dubois woman reported that her 26-year-old estranged boyfriend violated a PFA order by contacting her approximately 30 times in three hours. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
- Police were dispatched to a reported domestic disturbance Sunday at an Athena Drive residence. Officers handled the situation without incident.
- On Sunday police received a report about a dirt bike being stolen form a Walls Road residence. Police are continuing their investigation at this time.
