Jean H. Walker, 90, of Clearfield died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 at Marion Manor, Curwensville. Mrs. Walker was born Nov. 17, 1926 in Bigler, the daughter of Lucien F. and Lena A. (Williams) Houser.
She was a 1943 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School.
On Sept. 29, 1946, she was married to Harold Roland Walker at the Altoona Methodist Church by her brother-in-law, the Rev. Clyde Cowder.
Mrs. Walker was employed by Community Consumer Discount Co. of Clearfield for 48 years as a bookkeeper and controller.
In January of 1998 when the company moved to Altoona, she was then employed by the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home of Clearfield until March of 2002.
She was a member of the Bigler United Methodist Church, where she previously served as treasurer and historian. She also belonged to the Ladies Bible Class and Women’s Missionary Society.
Mrs. Walker was a member of the Clearfield Business and Professional Women, serving several terms as president; International Association of Administrative Professionals, Clear-Penn Chapter, Clearfield; NON Club of Clearfield; and Clearfield County Historical Society.
She was a past member of the Old Town Players of Clearfield. She also served as a member of the board of directors of the Bigler YMCA.
She is survived by her daughter, Leanna Walker Mower and her husband, Mark, a grandson, Ryan Walker and great-grandson, Cody Walker, all of Winter Garden, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Walker was the last member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Lysle B. and Frederick W. Houser; an infant sister; and four sisters, Alma Adams Kramer, Margaretta Cowder, Betty L. Wychulis and Josephine Owens Cowder.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield with the Rev. Dr. Robert Ludrowsky officiating. Burial will be in Bradford Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. -3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Marion Manor, Hospice and Denny Demchak of the Clearfield Area Agency on Aging for the care they gave to Mrs. Walker.
