Anthony J. “Snake” Mitravich Jr., 68, of DuBois died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at his home.
Born of April 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Anthony and Eugenia (Egan) Mitravich Sr.
He was a 1967 graduate of Central Christian High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1967. He spent two years in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
On Oct. 23, 1975, he married Melinda (Tredwell) Mitravich. She survives.
He loved working with his hands and creating things. He performed pipe insulating, worked for the railroad and performed brick work, roofing and carpentry. He loved doing indoor remodeling and tile work most.
He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, long drives and walks.
He was a Civil War and World War II aficionado and enjoyed going to Civil War battlefields and re-enactments. He also loved trivia and watching movies.
He is survived by his son, Anthony J. Mitravich III and his girlfriend, Teresa, and grandson, Riley of Kill Devil Hills, NC and daughter, Emily Perkins and her fiancé, Micah Fitzkee of DuBois.
He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Doug Tredwell and his wife, Robin of Arlington, Va., and John Buskirk of DuBois; two sisters-in-law, Kate Tredwell of McLean, Va., and Mary Elliott of Norman, Okla.; five nieces, Tori, Lisa, Laura, Casey and Courtney; and two nephews, Zak and John.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Buskirk and two brothers, James and Thomas Mitravich.
There will be no public visitation.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to a veterans’ charity and or a cancer charity of the donor’s choice.
