CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 2 has appointed Steve Fantechi as the new assistant district executive for construction.
District 2 serves nine counties in the north-central region, including Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter.
Fantechi began his District 2 career in May of 1992. Over the years, he has held positions as a designer and project manager, most recently serving as design services engineer.
Fantechi earned a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Penn State University and has held his professional engineers license since 1997. Fantechi resides in Weedville with his family.
He assumed his new duties Sept. 11.
“We’re excited to have Steve in his new position,” said District 2 Executive Karen Michael. “We’re confident that his talents will keep us moving forward and enhance the high level of customer service we always strive to provide.”
Actively maintaining and improving District 2’s 3,500 miles of state and local highways and 2,570 state and local bridges is a large undertaking between the department, the industry and local stakeholders.
Construction staff under Fantechi’s direction will work with numerous partners to deliver and complete projects that meet the goal of improving transportation infrastructure across the nine counties of District 2.
